Shahid is a dual British-Pakistani national with extensive experience in UK immigration law, legal governance, and compliance. A qualified solicitor with an LLB from University College London, he has managed Home Office license applications, student visas, and judicial reviews. He has worked closely with international education recruitment and served as Director of Legal Governance & Compliance at The Welding Institute (TWI), overseeing global operations, including in Pakistan. Shahid has also contributed to academia through partnerships with top universities. Additionally, he has served as a Justice of the Peace, school governor, and local councillor

Biography

Shahid is a dual British Pakistani National and has spent much of his life living, studying, and working in the UK, with several years also spent living and working in Pakistan. He has a solid understanding and appreciation of the working cultures in both countries.

Shahid holds an LLB honours degree from University College London, a part of the prestigious Russell Group. Shahid is a qualified solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales with many years of experience making Home Office license applications, processing student visas, and dealing with appeals, administrative reviews, and judicial reviews. He has extensive knowledge and understanding of UK Visas and Immigration policy affecting international students and educational institutions. He has also worked closely with agents within the international education recruitment space in Pakistan.

Shahid’s most recent employment has been as Director Legal Governance & Compliance for The Welding Institute Group of Companies, a world-renowned R&D company and the world of largest provider of UKAS accredited certification, training, and examination in NDT, welding inspection, plant inspection, quality control, underwater inspection, practical welding, and EWF/IIW Diploma in welding. TWI has over 800 staff in multiple offices around the globe including Cambridge UK, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Greece, and United Arab Emirates. Shahid was responsible for setting up and overseeing the Pakistan office.

In partnership with Brunel University (London), TWI also runs research centres and through its NSIRC programme, TWI has been affiliated with over 45 universities across the UK and around the world, creating relevant PhD topics with the University of Cambridge, Brunel University of London, Lancaster University, Coventry University, Singapore University of Technology and Design, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and many more.

Shahid has in the past served as a Justice of the Peace (Magistrate), a school Governor, and as a local councillor.
